Bethnal was a British rock band formed in London in 1972 and featured
George Csapo (vocals, keyboards, violin), Pete Dwoling (drums),
Nick Michaels (guitar), and
Everton Williams (bass). A straight-ahead rock ensemble (albeit with the unusual addition of violin),
Bethnal was mistakenly redefined as a punk group in the mid-'70s. It was an error corrected by listening to their two 1978 albums, the second of which,
Crash Landing, was made under the direction of the Who's
Pete Townshend.
Bethnal failed to find an audience and broke up in 1980.
